Uniek is smaller than any common potter’s wheel thanks to all-new design and use of modern components. Departing from traditional constructions, we have designed it from scratch incorporating modern high-torque motors and bearings. The result is a smaller and more capable drive, yet you can still create cups, dishes and vases with it.
At a price of $69 during the Kickstarter campaign, this is a fun toy for anyone in your life who is interested in pottery. The retail price for this miniature pottery wheel would be $139 after the campaign. So you’re getting it at around half price during Kickstarter.
There are many alternatives on Amazon that’s are below $50 though. I suggest you shop around and check the options available, especially if the retro design of the Uniek isn’t that important for you.
Note that it is really very miniature. The turning wheel comes in two sizes, 45 mm and 65 mm, and the video uses the larger one. They should show the smaller one so backers can understand how small this is.
At least you get to make really tiny pottery. Great for beginners or hobbyists I guess. I doubt it would interest serious enthusiasts because you can get bigger options at a similar price, albeit a lot less portable.
Hi, I’m Takeshi.
I’m a cyborg bear. You might think I go for techy stuff, but I do have an artistic side and appreciate good design.
