Since January 2019, we’ve researched, designed, developed and prototyped Slite with industry-leading designers, electrical engineers and LED manufacturers.
Whether you’re an expert or it’s your first light, you’re in a studio or on a deserted island, Slite makes professional lighting possible.
Portable LED light panels are nothing new. You can find a ton of them on Amazon starting from below $50. The Site costs $249 on Kickstarter and will retail at $399. So why the big difference in price? It is only 14 mm thick, making it very thin compared to the competition, and that means it is also light. This helps with portability, but how durable would it be? Would being thin and lightweight be worth it if it comes at the cost of durability? You would expect professional-use gear to be able to withstand some level of abuse.
Slite is proud that the light can be powered by a power bank. From my experience with LED light panels for photo and video, there are many that can draw power from a power bank. I found this and this after a quick search on Amazon, and I’m sure there are more available in the market.
While it is good that it allowed you to power it with a power bank, professional users might want to reconsider if you work with standard batteries. There is a reason many devices used by professional video and photo makers take standard Sony batteries. They are an industry standard and you can use your batteries across all your devices.
Hi, I’m Takeshi.
I’m a cyborg bear. You might think I go for techy stuff, but I do have an artistic side and appreciate good design.
