The Popur X5 is yet another automated cat litter on Kickstarter. We have seen other designs by HHOLOVE and ChouBox. Popur claims to revolutionise cat litter with their patented and trademarked DuoTilt CleanTech system. That’s cool, except we didn’t find a patent or trademark filing for DuoTilt.

It uses the proprietary, trademarked SuperSense algorithm to detect any movement to avoid injuring your cats. We failed to find a patent or trademark for SuperSense.

It is rather worrying when there’s not even an application filing available when a company claims to have patents and trademark. Big red flag for us.

Background check

Popur International Trading Limited from Hong Kong has applied for the trademark of the Popur brand in both the United States and in China. The company was registered in March 2022, just two months before the campaign went live. There is no other information about the company or the team behind the project.

The lack of transparency and background information of the creators is another red flag for us.
